Welcome back to Term 3.

Hope that everyone had a relaxing, family fun break. I am really looking forward to hearing about all the cool stuff everyone did and amazing places that you visited.
I must say that Melbourne was pretty awesome and the area around Mansfield was very picturesque. The best part of my holidays was spending 7 days with my family having laughs, fun and relaxing.

Well...Term 3 Has arrived! Room 10 are going to be very busy learning (and having fun) over the next 9 weeks.

To start we are all working on our speeches that will be presented in weeks 2 and 3.
Weeks 1-3 we will be completing our Asia study to presented during Cultural Week. During this week Room 10 will be visiting Shantytown to experience Chinese culture
Week 3 is dedicated to 'Maths Week"
Weeks 5 and 6 are focused around ' Prep' and creating successful businesses or developing our work skills.
Week 8 is Year 6 Ski day and Year 5 Big Day Out.

WOW! That's the FUN, so we have to slot all our learning around these activities.
Please be prepared for learning by having all of your pencils, glue-sticks,  books etc in your desk ready to go. Don't forget we have Library on Wednesday.
* Just a note to parents, for reading this term I am using the Availl programme. If your child says they are watching movies, WE ARE! The movies are used in conjunction with books and subtitles as well as activities in their books.

Magical Chalk...

Magical Chalk...if only you had a packet.
If you had magical chalk. What would you draw?

ChalkIf I could draw a magical footpath that would  turn real I would draw big chocolate trees. Big sour lolly snakes would be around, lolly jets will be flying in the sky, colorful rainbows will be in the sky and I would draw a golden house at the end of the walk way.
Josh W

If I could buy a pack of magical footpath chalk I would make a Unicorn/ Giraffe/ Pegasus/ Dragon and it would poop ice cream with chocolate and multicolored sprinkles yum. I would also draw a endless bag of wishes!!!!
Bronah

4 rules for the chalk
  1. You have to be 10 to 15
  2. Do not make things that will hurt people
  3. Only use black or it will not work
  4. You have to be in syndicate 3

Book Week Door

Last week we worked hard to create a door display for book week.

Who Flung Dung?
Monkeys wearing room 10 faces swinging from jungle vines.
Lots of crazy animals...
Flashes of red and orange showing Furleys confusion, shock, anger and frustration at the thought of DUNG being flung!

Puppets

Here are some of our finished puppets.

We are now working hard to complete our plays so they can be stars.

Creating Bodies for our puppets

While the paint was drying on our heads we continued hand sewing the bodies and clothes for our puppet characters.

The hard part was keeping it flat and threading the needle.

Some of us used fur because our characters are animals.

All dressed ready to attach the head. Think Caleb will add some buttons to the shirt so he knows where the front is.

Creating puppets

Today we painted the second undercoat onto our heads for our puppets.
We used a flesh coloured paint to cover the newspaper.

This was quite tricky. If we didn't work fast enough the paper started to peel off.

Mothers Day

This year on Mothers day I made breakfast in bed and brought a golden locket . Me and my dad felt proud  of ourselves.
Daniel

My Special Event was Mothers Day it was the best day of my life(for my mum).
Me and my brother made a goodie basket and in it we put:
1.A white chocolate bunny rabbit.
2. Raspberry chocolate logs.
3. Vanilla Fudge.
and some beautiful flowers
After about 30 seconds (maximum )we asked for some fudge...
without a doubt she said no!
The next morning we woke up and we found the fudge packet empty.

We asked mum, "Where is the fudge!"
"Me and your father ate it. I had about 3 pieces your dad ate the rest."
